The Word Count Problem
IELTS Writing Task 1 requires at least 150 words. Writing fewer costs you marks. But many students either write too little (130-140 words) or too much (200+ words).
Ideal range: 150-180 words
Why 150-180 Is Perfect
- Under 150: You lose marks for Task Achievement
- 150-180: Perfect — enough detail, not too long
- 180-200: Fine, but you're spending extra time
- Over 200: Too long — you're probably including unnecessary details
How to Hit 150+ Words
